I have always been under the impression that all Americans — espesially Buffy fans, could not give a flying fluck about the history of the US and Haiti.

Whoa. Michael, I've never claimed to be infallible (unlike our last president and pretty much his entire administration), and I have to admit you are at least semi-right. Whether giving the brush off to a president whose administration was completely out-of-bounds in terms of the New Orleans debacle (and let's all try not to mention in terms of international and domestic law) would actually be petty, no doubt it would have seemed that way to some.

And as for Rush and Pat, spot on! Rush should split (and no, that's not a veiled reference to what happened near the end of Season Seven to Caleb, as tempting as such a veiled reference would be), and Pat -- what?; if not for the Devil, the Haitians would still be good little slaves? -- should just give it up and go check himself into an asylum already... or someone should do it for him.

You're pretty smart, Eli, and I have often enjoyed your too-few posts, but you're DEAD WRONG on this one.
Rush Limbaugh is a petty A-hole. Pat Robertson is a petty A-hole. But Obama is a pretty a-okay stand-up guy — most of the time.
It has almost become a tradition now to ask former presidents to pitch in in this kind of humanitarian effort, and it would have been petty if Obama had excluded Bush. And what ever you may think, Obama is not a petty man.
