Dollhouse, congrats to Joss and Eliza

Well, this time just a very short post: This is last week’s news, so by now I assume most have heard that FOX is bringing back Dollhouse, which stars Eliza Dushku (who played Faith in Buffy), and was created by our favorite, critically acclaimed TV writer, Joss Whedon, the creative genius behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, of course. I’m not convinced Dollhouse will ever measure up to Buffy, but it is an interesting show, and unless I’m terribly mistaken, it seems destined to address some of the same themes, e.g., nontraditional family/emotional relationships (likely to figure in to a more lengthy blog post sometime soon), feminism, etc.

If Dollhouse can grow its audience, it could mean every new television show of the future might not have to start and finish the first season with a ratings bang. Why, the writers and actors might even be given a chance to develop the characters and storylines! How odd would that be? Just imagine with me for a moment, won’t you . . . ?

Just wanted to acknowledge this. Congrats to Joss and Eliza.
